It used to be called the "nerdrock" look (ala weezer). Then it started to be called "emo".

Then things got weird.

Now it's called twee?

twee is a british thing, i'd only ever heard it used as an insult, never as...well, that.

one night after an army show we ended up at this bar in soho. everyone besides us was ripped to the gills on cocaine and wearing ascots. naturally a pounded about a bottle of whiskey and proceeded to tell the nearest two of them why one should never--EVER--wear an ascot in public.
later i found out they were "new romantics".
go figure.
