The Bert Show wants to collect 400,00 handwritten thank you letters to send to U.S. troops stationed all around the world on Thanksgiving Day.
Now, I totally understand that everyone who lives here in the U.S. does not support our presence in Iraq, Afghanistan, and a whole slew of other places. Maybe you don't agree with war and military action in general - who doesn't wish for peace? However, it is my personal belief that the continued strength of our military is one thing that allows us the luxury of sitting in our safe, (relatively) comfortable homes and the freedom to express whatever opinions we want about our country, our government, and everything else going on around us. The people who help defend that freedom deserve to know that we appreciate them.
If you live in the U.S. and agree with me here, do you think you could take 5 or 10 minutes out of your busy schedule to write a thank you letter and send it to me? The radio station's website says that they would prefer bulk letter submissions, though of course you can submit one yourself directly to the station or drop it off at Taco Mac if you are local. Letters can be dropped off at Taco Mac up until midnight on October 28th. There is a Taco Mac down the street from my house, and I'm thinking maybe Mike and I can go there the weekend before, get a beer, and drop off the letters for our next date night. Or if that doesn't work out (or if we receive more after that), Max and I can just swing by there to drop off the letters one night that week.
If you don't want to write a letter, could you just click the repost button and share this on your own journal?
( details for anyone who wants to write a letter )
