And Now... A Very Important Message...
Jun. 18th, 2007 03:22 amAnyone who's a fan of fetish and alternative photography has certainly heard of Lithium Picnic. Being such, one must live in the dark if they have yet to hear about the current legal battle between Philip and Suicide Girls. He is currently suffering from pretentious and slanderous litigation from them, as they have filed a $100,000 lawsuit against him.
His wife, Apnea, puts it best:
"SG is now making the preposterous claims that they taught him photography and web design and they are going after the profits of my site. His SG contract very specifically defined single girl sites like mine as an exception to the competition rules but now SG claims my single girl site is a competitor to their empire of over one thousand girls, books, DVDs, radio shows, merchandise, a magazine and television syndication. Entering into litigation over this is costly and takes a lot of time, thousands of dollars a month. SG knows they can outspend him 100 times over and this is likely more about breaking him and locking him into a permanent non-compete than any truth about their claims."

Show your support. Do what you can. Every single time an injustice like this is allowed to go unchecked, it simply makes it easier for it to happen again to another. We, as artists, are both blessed and cursed. We are blessed by the ability to create beauty and joy for those around us, and at the same time we are cursed by those who don't understand the idea of art. Sometimes, like now, it transcends art. It becomes nothing more than the sick machinations of a company that desires nothing more than to stuff it's pockets with money, at the literal expense of a human being's life and livelihood. Destroy enough artists, and art will collapse. Think of what will fill this vacuum. Think of what happens when their contemptious eye gazes upon you. Who will warn you? Who will be left to stand up for you?
Don't let another independent artist get crushed under the bootheel of another greedy corporation.
