"If you're looking to learn how to make a good icon, I recommend lots and lots of research. Look at other icons and logos, figure out what makes them work. Ask yourself questions like 'why is that so recognizable' and 'why is that so appealing'. Then practice. A lot. Then do a whole lot more research. You're going to need it. Unless you're one of the lucky ones that can get it in the first shot. However, it's only going to really work if you're willing to work *really* hard at it."
