I'm sitting in my seat, and I'm feeling the train throb underneath me.

I've come to realize...

I'm looking out the window, and I'm seeing the lights of the city as they peel away from me.

I've come to realize...

I'm diving deep into the forest, and I'm screaming along the tracks.

I've come to realize...

Away from the city, and I'm coming back home.

I've come to realize...

I've come to realize...

I'm looking out the window, and I see my reflection faint against the glass.

I see the world outside, and I see the look on my face, and I've come to realize...

I can't keep every promise.

Sorry kid, I can't keep every promise.

And one day I'm gonna be okay with that.

I think you could keep every promise, if you weren't so free with your romanticism and promises.

i.e., in the heat of the moment, don't make promises you can't keep.

Actually, I think that these both illustrate my point about promises made in the heat of a moment.

i don't make promises in the heat of the moment.

especially when it was THOSE promises.

mine come with constant and vigilant examination of my abilities to keep to my word.

hence why i don't make very many promises, and why it pains me when others break theirs.

It isn't just the number of promises you make, or the circumstances under which you make such promises, it's the weight of the promise you choose and the practicality of upkeep.

This was, from the start, a very romanticized promise that you made about yourself based on conditions that you obliquely assumed she did or would fulfill for you: what she was doing, why she was doing it, who she was.

The way this promise was made, you actually made it hers. You weren't going to give up on her doing what you ultimately wanted. You judged her good enough to fulfill your desires, and you were willing to wait indefinitely under the assumption that she eventually would.

"I'll never give up on you" stopped being about your sense of faith and loyalty, and became more about your sense of entitlement.

You couldn't keep this promise because you delegated the upkeep to her in the end.
